Forrest & Cheryl Renslow
Forrest renslow
Forrest Renslow was born and raised in Spokane on the north side of Spokane. He attended a local prestigious high school and was very fortunate (literally) to graduate from --–yes--- Rogers High School. Forrest found his career calling working in the manufacturing industry. He worked at an aluminum foundry while still in high school and was subsequently employed in plant maintenance, welding, and repairing plant equipment at a magnesium reduction plant north of Spokane. During this time in the early 70’s--- Forrest's coworkers at the plant were faithfully praying for Forrest. Those prayers and the Lord’s calling are what led Forrest to become a Christian in 1978. Forrest is forever grateful for those men who were praying for him during that time--- praying that he would accept Christ as the Savior of his life.
Forrest met the love of his life in 1978, and he has been happily married to Cheryl for 45 years. She is the rock of his life on this earth. They have two children living outside of the Spokane area. Forrest and Cheryl spend a great deal of their time going to their three grandchildren’s activities, it is exhausting-- but great fun! Forrest enjoys many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, snowshoeing, disc golf, and hiking.
During Forrest’s employment as a plant maintenance worker, he found his way into the machine shop and decided that this is what he wanted to do for his career. He quit work and started machinist training at Spokane Community College and finished at the top of his class. He went on to become a journeyman machinist, journeyman tool maker, and then a Senior level mold maker at a local hi-tech company. Forrest then proceeded to start his own company in 1995 in a niche area of machining that was missing in Spokane. All his peers thought he was crazy for quitting his mold-making job and many times Forrest thought they were right. 30 years later, Northwest Wire EDM is still thriving, serving all areas of industry, including aerospace, space, mold and die making, and many other areas of industrial metalworking needs. Forrest recently sold the business and is currently working at Northwest Wire EDM part-time, training new workers who will take over running Northwest Wire EDM in the near future.
In 2014 Forrest and Cheryl felt led to start attending a new church coming to Spokane named Mars Hill, to be led by a newly hired pastor---wait for it ---yes! ---Pastor Miles. Forrest was asked to serve on the board of directors for Redemption Spokane, which he did for many years. He was also involved in many church projects that are required to keep an old church building standing. Forrest then transferred to the Financial Accountability Committee (FAC) at Redemption, helping to oversee church finances. Forrest’s current position is serving on the Transitional Leadership Team (TLT) to help facilitate the merger of Trinity Baptist Church and Redemption Spokane. Forrest has great hope for the combined two churches, even though there may be some difficult issues to work through. Hope ----that the newly formed Redeeming Grace Church will thrive and be blessed by the Lord, to make an impact on the north side of Spokane and beyond!
